Despite his absence, Kotoko managed to sail through by ditching Hearts of Oak 1:2 at the Accra Sports Stadium courtesy goals from Justice Blay and Naby Keita with Joseph Esso getting the consolation.
After the game, coach Maxwell Konadu explained the exclusion of the Burkina Faso forward from their squad for the Hearts clash.

Konadu explained that, ” Songne Yacouba was dropped because we (Kotoko) had issues to settle with the player. We left him because he wasn’t mentally focused.”
He however stressed that, the absence of the Songne Yacouba didn’t affect the team.
“Not really, because other players gave their all” he concluded.
Konadu further explained why he chose Kwame Baah to be in the sticks for Kotoko despite the return of skipper Felix Annan.
“Kwame Baah played well against Ebusua Dwarfs and kept a clean sheet, it’d been unfair to drop him. We are managers and it’s our duty to rotate the team.”
Kotoko after the victory, have now accumulated twelve points in six matches of the Ghana Premier League.
