Maxwell Abbey was the hero of the day for Great Olympics as his two strikes secured the full points for the club against Inter Allies in week nine of the Ghana Premier League on Friday afternoon.
Abbey scored two penalties in the game to ensure victory for the Oly Dade lads against Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium.
It was the first game for coach Yaw Preko since he took over Great Olympics three days ago following coach Yaw Arnor’s health issues.[ads2]
Yaw Preko ensured that his first game in charge of Great Olympics go down as memorable by dispatching a gallant team to smack Inter Allies.
Olympics bossed the first forty minutes of the game with brilliant display even though Inter Allies also showed up at the party.
Great Olympics were awarded a penalty when the center referee whistled that Desmond Abanga of Inter Allies has committed a foul in the penalty box.[ads3]
Maxwell Abbey stood up and converted the ball beautifully to put Great Olympics ahead in the 9th minute of the game.
The first half ended with Great Olympics leading the pack with Inter Allies squandering some number of chances.
Both clubs returned from the tunnel with desire to change the scores but it was Great Olympics who eventually had the second goal to seal a perfect victory at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In just ten minutes to the end of the game, Ernest Adu’s hand struck the ball which saw the center referee pointing the the eighteen yard box, rewarding Great Olympics another penalty.[ads4]
Again, Maxwell Abbey struck the ball perfectly into the net to give Great Olympics 2:0 victory.
