Ghana has reached the finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship after defeating Niger at Stade De Gaules on Tuesday afternoon.
The Black Satellites of Ghana defeated their counterpart from Niger 5:3 on penalty shootouts after drawing goalless during the regulation period.[ads2]
Ghana started the game on a good note, showing enough determination to get to the final of the tournament.
Coach Karim Zito’s side created lots of chances but failed to utilize the glaring opportunities.[ads3]
The first half ended goalless with Ghana dominating possession.
Niger retuned from the tunnel with much power and eagerness, creating chances but Ghana’s goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim and his defence were able to maintain their composure till the blast of the final whistle.[ads4]
During the extra time, both team failed to score with the game travelling to penalty shootouts.
At the penalty shootouts, Ghana won 5:3 and will face either Ivory Coast or Burkina Faso in the finals.
The victory also means Ghana has book a slot at the 2021 African Youth Championship in Mauritania.[ads5]
