Former President, John Dramani Mahama has congratulated Hasaacas Ladies for qualifying to the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Ghanaian representative in the ongoing competition defeated ASFAR from Morocco 2:1 in the first semifinal game at the El Salaam Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Goals from Doris Boaduwaa and Evelyn Badu were enough for Hasaacas Ladies to secure the all-important win at the expense of Moroccan champions ASFAR.[ads2]
It was Doris Boaduwaa who opened the scoreline for Hasaacas in the early minutes of the game but Najat Badri snatched the parity for ASFAR with just a minute to the end of the first half.
Hasaacas Ladies returned from the break to dominate the game, made incursions of a second goal until ASFAR goalkeeper fouled Evelyn Badu in the penalty box.
Dead-ball specialist Perpetual Agyekum failed to restore Hasaacas Ladies to the lead as her penalty hit the post.[ads3]
In the 76th minute, in-form Evelyn Badu made it 2:0 for Hasaacas Ladies with a powerful header from Doris Boaduwaa’s cross.
Striker Veronica Appiah nearly made it 3:1 for Hasaacas Ladies in the 81st minute but his strike was beautifully saved by the ASFAR goalkeeper.
Congratulating the reigning Hasaacas Ladies for reaching the final of the Champions League, Mr. Mahama wrote on his social media page that, “Sending a message of congratulations to the playing body and management of Hasaacas Ladies FC for their qualification to the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League.[ads4]
“That was an emphatic win over ASFAR of Morocco.”
The victory means Hasaacas Ladies have reached the finals of the competition and will face the winner of Mamelodi Sundowns and Malabo Kings tie later tonight.[ads5]
