Former Ghana international Yaw Preko has recommended two budding strikers that can replace Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars.
Gyan, a former Sunderland attacker is regarded as one of the top strikers to ever don the Black Stars jersey.[ads2]
He is currently Ghana’s all-time leading topscorer with 51 goals and the only African player with the highest goals (6) in the FIFA World Cup.
Gyan last played for Ghana in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt where the West African country was eliminated from the knockout stage by Tunisia.[ads3]
Despite refuting claims of retiring from the Black Stars, many believe Asamoah Gyan has left a huge legacy at the national team that will take a longer period for someone to come closer.
In an interview, Yaw Preko believes USM Alger striker Kwame Opoku and Orlando Pirates forward Kwame Peprah are the two strikers that can fill the void left by Asamoah Gyan at the Black Stars.[ads4]
“Asamoah Gyan’s exit has created a void at Ghana Black Stars and difficult for our attackers to score”.
“I believe strongly that former attacker of King Faisal Football Club and Asante Kotoko Sporting Club respectively, Kwame Peprah and Kwame Opoku are the best pair to fill the goal-scoring void in the National team”, he added.[ads5]
