Ghana Premier league falcons, Asante Kotoko are to appoint defender Abdul Ganiyu as new captain.
The ace central defender is in line to be handed the top position in the club should he renew his contract.[ads2]
This comes following the departure of goalkeeper and captain Felix Annan after ten years of active services.
Ganiyu was the third captain for Kotoko last season with Emmanuel Gyamfi as the deputy skipper while Felix Annan was the main captain.
Ganiyu is close to signing a new contract with the Porcupine Warriors with talks reportedly at the apex as his contract nears expiration.
According to reports, Ganiyu and his representatives have agreed to renew the contract with Gh¢10,000.00 as monthly salary.[ads3]
It is believed that the former Karela United defender was demanding for a salary of Gh¢15,000.00 without an enticement fee but after negotiations with the management of the club, has agreed to the Gh¢10,000.00 proposal from Kotoko.
Ganiyu was impressive for Asante Kotoko last season despite the team’s failure to win the Ghana Premier league, placing second on the league log.[ads4]
His impressive form last season gained him a call-up to the Black Stars on two separate assignments, featuring in AFCON qualifying game against South Africa in Johannesburg.
Abdul Ganiyu joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year deal in 2018 from fellow premiership outfit Karela United after a scintillating form that year.[ads5]
