Kamaradini Mamudu’s omission from Black Stars: A puzzling conundrum

As an avid follower of the Ghana Premier League, it’s bewildering to note that Kamaradini Mamudu, one of the league’s most consistent and prolific defenders, has been conspicuously absent from recent Black Stars squads. The 23-year-old has been delivering sterling performances for Medeama Sporting Club, leaving me to wonder why he’s been overlooked.

Mamudu’s Black Stars debut against Niger in the AFCON qualifiers on November 18, 2024, was a resounding success, earning him subsequent call-ups, including the 2025 Unity Cup matches against Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago. However, despite his electrifying form for Medeama, he’s been inexplicably omitted from recent squads, including the Kirin Cup matches against Japan and South Korea.

What’s perturbing is that Mamudu has two goals to his credit this season and is currently in scintillating form, yet he’s been sidelined.

Is it that coach Otto Addo doesn’t deem him worthy of selection? Or is there another factor at play?

According to the transfer market, Mamudu’s contract with Medeama is set to expire soon. So is it that the player is hesitant to renew his contract, which is potentially leading to a “tough hand” blocking his return to the Black Stars or what?

The Black Stars have struggled with defensive solidity in recent matches, making Mamudu’s omission even more puzzling. His absence has left me thinking, that’s why I’m calling for his inclusion in the national team. Mamudu’s experience and skillset would be a valuable addition to the Black Stars, and his omission raises questions about the team’s selection process.

As Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, it’s imperative that Mamudu’s situation receives attention. A player of his caliber and consistency deserves consideration for the national team. Let’s hope his omission is merely an oversight and not a deliberate snub. With the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures, it’s time for coach Otto Addo to reassess Mamudu’s case and consider his immense contributions to Ghanaian football.

Some ardent local football lover like myself awaits Mamudu’s response to the situation, hoping that he’ll continue to shine for Medeama and eventually earn his way back into the Black Stars squad. One thing is certain – Kamaradini Mamudu’s talent and dedication to the sport will undoubtedly earn him recognition sooner rather than later.
