Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae group, Morgan Heritage have heaped praises on Ghanaian dancehall gem Shatta Wale after a successful collaboration.
Shatta Wale was among the Ghanaian musicians featured on Morgan Heritage’s “Homeland” album which was released on April 21, 2023.
Speaking after a successful launch of the album, Gramps Morgan, a leading member of the Morgan Heritage group disclosed why they collaborated with Shatta Wale on the album.
Explaining why they featured Shatta Wale on the album, he said, “for doing an album like this, of course, we needed to have him [Shatta Wale]. We have never got the chance to work with him before but it has always been a dream to work with him not just musically but as brothers, so that’s why three people from Ghana ended up on the album.”

Morgan Heritage is a Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae band formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.
They have toured internationally and released a number of reggae albums.
Morgan Heritage made their first appearance at Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica. They were subsequently signed by MCA and released their debut album Miracles the same year. This album was more pop-influenced than their later work.
The “Homeland” album kicks off a busy year for Morgan Heritage, who will also appear at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and tour the globe later this year.
Before announcing the album, Morgan Heritagr shared lead single “Who Deh Like U” feat Bounty Killer, Cham & Stonebwoy, which debuted at #1 on the US iTunes Afro-Beat chart.
Heralded as the Royal Family of Reggae, Morgan Heritage has released 12 studio albums, including Strictly Roots, which won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
With a career spanning over two decades, Morgan Heritage has worked with numerous multi-GRAMMY award-winning artists and producers across multiple genres of music.
Along with the group’s global success, they also command a significant sonic impact over the reggae genre, fusing it with various rhythms and sounds from around the world.
