Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has rejoined Leicester City’s pre-season preparations as he edges closer to a return from a long-term knee injury.
The 21-year-old was sidelined for six months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury that restricted him to just 11 appearances last season.
Now fully recovered, Issahaku is determined to play his part in Leicester’s push for promotion back to the Premier League.
Two seasons ago, the former Sporting CP player was instrumental in helping the Foxes win the Championship title, contributing to 19 goals in their triumphant campaign.
Leicester City have commenced an intensive pre-season programme, which includes demanding gym work and physical drills to bring the squad up to full fitness.
As part of their preparations, the team will face Peterborough United, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, and Fiorentina in three pre-season friendlies over the coming weeks. These fixtures are designed to fine-tune tactics and build momentum ahead of the 2025/26 season, which begins in six weeks.
For Issahaku, this pre-season period offers a crucial window to rebuild his match sharpness, regain his fitness levels, and reintegrate into the squad’s tactical set up after several weeks on the sidelies.
