The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) is set to induct a new cohort of professionals into its prestigious membership at a formal ceremony scheduled for Friday, 27th June 2025, at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium, UPSA – Legon. The ceremony, which runs from 2:30pm to 4:00pm, is expected to welcome leaders from diverse sectors who have fulfilled the Institute’s rigorous membership requirements.

The induction marks not only the culmination of a structured admission process but also a renewed commitment by the Institute to elevate corporate governance practices in Ghana. Members being inducted have been carefully vetted and prepared to embrace the responsibilities of directorship and ethical leadership in their various fields of influence.

In an official invitation to the inductees, Dr. Alfred Braimah, FIoD, Chief Executive Officer of IoD-Gh, emphasised the importance of attendance as a symbol of formal acceptance. Inductees have been asked to submit a brief profile and high-resolution photo as part of the process, with the option to attend with a guest.
Founded in June 1998 through a collaboration between the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance, and Ghana’s State Enterprises Commission, the Institute of Directors-Ghana has grown into one of the country’s foremost professional institutions. It champions director professionalism, ethical board leadership, and world-class corporate governance.
With its vision to become a leading professional body promoting governance for national prosperity, IoD-Gh plays a pivotal role in strengthening the backbone of Ghana’s corporate and public institutions. Its mission includes setting standards for corporate directorship in line with international best practices, offering robust training and mentorship, and advocating for effective governance frameworks.

The Institute has been instrumental in developing the National Corporate Governance Code, a key reference point for harmonising governance across both public and private sectors. Its work aligns closely with national goals of transparency, accountability, and economic stability.
Notable figures such as Mr. Rockson Kwesi Dogbegah, who served as President during significant initiatives like the launch of the third edition of the governance code, continue to shape the Institute’s legacy. The organisation actively collaborates with major stakeholders such as the Bank of Ghana, State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to advance ethical standards and address pressing issues such as conflict of interest in public institutions.

As Ghana navigates increasingly complex governance challenges, IoD-Gh remains a critical force for reform. The upcoming induction ceremony will not only mark the personal milestones of the new members but also reinforce the Institute’s broader mission to drive ethical leadership, professionalism, and sustainable development.
