Newly-appointed Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has said he will do his best to transform the club to be the best in the world.
The astute tactician was appointed the new head coach of Asante Kotoko on a two-year deal on Sunday after fruitful discussion.
He has been named as the replacement of Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto who had his contract terminated days ago despite guiding the team to second position on the 2020/21 Ghana Premier league season.[ads2]
Dr. Narteh Ogum has been handed the Asante Kotoko coaching job after spectacular stints with West African Football Academy (WAFA SC) after guiding them to the third position on last season’s Ghana Premier league log.
Expressing his gratitude, Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum tweeted that, “I am awfully grateful for this opportunity to serve such a great club Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Thanks to HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Board, Management and Supporters for reposing trust in me.
“I will do my best to make Kotoko the best club in Ghana, Africa and the world.” Dr. Ogum added.
Dr. Narteh Ogum in 2013 masterminded the qualification of Elmina Sharks to the Ghana Division One League.[ads3]
He also worked with Ebusua Dwarfs in the Premier League during a short stint in 2016, and later resigned to pursue his Doctor of Philosophy programme.
The 43-year old was later appointed Karela United head coach in. October, 2019 but the deal was however terminated after disagreements with the management board.[ads4]
After just two months of leaving Karela United, Prosper Nartey Ogum landed the West African Football Academy (WAFA) coaching job ahead of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.
In his first season, Nartey Ogum led WAFA to the 10th position on the league standings before the season was truncated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During his second season, the 2020/21 season, he guided WAFA to a 3rd place finish accumulating 56 points.[ads5]
