Former Ghana youth star Clifford Aboagye has disclosed how close he was in joining Spanish Laliga giant FC Barcelona in 2012.
According to the 25-year old attacking midfielder, he went for a tournament at Burkina Faso in somewhere 2012 and he performed so well that both Barcelona and Sevilla wanted to sign him.

He explained that, in that tournament were scouts from FC Barcelona and Sevilla and the two clubs showed interest in him and wanted to secure his signature but both deals didn’t materialized.
“I remember somewhere in 2012 I had the likes of Barcelona wanting to sign me”
“We played a tournament in Burkina Faso, there were a lot of scouts and among these scouts were Barcelona and Sevilla (scouts)”

“I remember when the Barcelona move didn’t come on, I was just a step to signing for Sevilla
“They sent the contract and everything but there was a misunderstanding with my manager and Promoesport so it didn’t come on”, Aboagye told TV3’s Juliet Bawuah.
Aboagye, who currently plays for Mexican top-flight side Querétaro FC on loan from Atlas Fútbol Club is eyeing a return to Europe and in FC Barcelona shirt.
“Barcelona is a club I like a lot, and it will be a dream come true to play for Barcelona”

“There’s an adage that goes like if you dream, dream big. So I’m dreaming bug, my expectations are very high”, he noted.
Clifford Aboagye was part of the Ghana U-20 side that finished third in the 2013 FIFA World Cup and was named the bronze ball player in the said tournament.
