Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Karim Zito, has addressed calls for his dismissal by clarifying his coaching philosophy and urging fans to exercise patience.
Coach Zito emphasized that throughout his career, he has never been dismissed. He is committed to diligently fulfilling his responsibilities and stepping down only when his objectives are achieved. He expressed his deep connection to Kotoko, understanding the passion and expectations of its supporters. He said,
“I have never been sacked as a head coach. If a club hires me, I will work, and at the end of the day, I’ll leave my role, but this is my club, and I know how the fans behave.
He appealed to the fans for patience, assuring them that victories will come. Despite the team currently being in 5th position, Coach Zito remains optimistic about their title prospects, with 14 games still to play.
“I only plead with the fans to be patient, and we will surely win. We are at the 5th role, and it’s not over. With 14 games left, we remain in contention for the league title.
Additionally, he shared personal concerns about the impact of his coaching role on his family, particularly his children, who are troubled by the challenges he faces. Nonetheless, he reassures them about the nature of his work and remains dedicated to his role at Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
“Sometimes, my kids are disturbed, but I keep telling them this is the nature of our work, and the fans have their right to protest, but they should be patient,”
He told Asempa FM during an interview. Kotoko will face Aduana in the FA Cup round of 16 before they face Hearts of Oak the following week.
