Former Asante Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah has reacted to the Nsoatreman incident which claimed the life of stunt Kotoko supporter Pooley. The sad incident happened on Sunday 2nd February, 2025.
The incident has been widely condemned by both local and international media outlets. Ghana Football has been impacted by the event and the local league has been pushed back. In an interview with the former Kotoko CEO, he expressed his regret and compared it to what occurred on May 9th, 2001 at the Accra Sport Stadium. He said during an interview on Joy Sports.
“We carry out the remembrance on May 9th (to remember the May 9 Accra Sports Stadium disaster). We are very critical when these things occur. The people who are responsible in the system ultimately have to be held to account.”
An indefinite suspension has been placed on the league and the Ghana Football Association has called for a stakeholder engagement in order come up with a drastic solutions and make reforms.
