Board member of Hearts of Oak, Vincent Odotei Sowah has disclosed that the club will be boasting of a woman’s team next season.
With the team eager to expand its tentacles, Odotei Sowah revealed that establishing a vibrant women’s team is one of the key areas the board of the club are focusing their energies on.
According to Odotei Sowah, the Hearts of Oak board are deliberating on the name to call the women’s team, with three names currently on the table for discussion.
“Hearts of Oak will have its own female team next season. Currently we have three names that the board is considering to choose and it will soon be made public – Vincent Odotei Sowah told Oyerepa FM in Kumasi.
This comes after Hearts of Oak commissioned its ultramodern commercial center in Accra on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
The owner of the club, Togbe Afede XIV, described the club’s decision to commission a Commercial Centre as a step to modernisation towards becoming one of the best clubs on the African continent.
The club’s highest shareholder explained at the commissioning of the edifice that Hearts were ready to explore partnerships with other clubs in order to learn about modernĀ football trends.
Speaking at the club’s Commercial Centre commissioning on Wednesday, Togbe Afede XIV said “It is very important to take certain decisions to modernise the club if we want to compete as one of the best clubs on the African continent.”
Meanwhile, should Hearts of Oak manage to get a women’s team next season, the former Africa champions will become one of the few Ghanaian clubs after Sekondi Hasaacas, Elmina Sharks to have its own women’s team.
