Former Asante Kotoko skipper, Joe Hendricks has cautioned Hearts of Oak defenders ahead of CAF Champions league showdown against Wydad Athletic.
The Phobians face the Moroccan outfit in the final round of the preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 17, 2021 before the return leg in the North African country.
The reigning Ghana Premier league champions need to beat Wydad Athletic convincingly at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to make the reverse fixture a mere formality.
And Hendricks who played for Asante Kotoko in the CAF Champions League sometime back has advised the Hearts of Oak defenders to avoiding unnecessary fouls.
According to the veteran footballer, it will be a disaster for the Phobians to concede avoidable infringements that could enable Wydad Athletic to score in the first leg.
“Hearts of Oak had a blistering form last season and if they want to qualify for the group stage, they must beat WAC convincingly in Accra. They should avoid unnecessary fouls that can give WAC a goal on Sunday. The defenders should be careful”, Hendricks told ace sportscaster Stephen Kwame Yeboah in an interview on Takoradi-based Ahoto FM on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
