The management of Hasaacas Ladies have written to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to postpone their 2021/22 Women’s Premier League opener against Ladystrikers.
The defending champions face rivals Ladystrikers in week one of the Ghana Women’s Premier League on December 17-20, 2021 at the Gyandu Park.[ads2]
Speaking on Takoradi-based Ahoto FM, coach Yusif Basigi disclosed that management of his outfit have written to the GFA for a week or two break, meaning league opener against Ladystrikers should be postponed.
He argued that the team participated in about six different competitions in 2021 which includes the Ghana Women’s Premier League, FA Cup, WAFU Cup, CAF Champions League, Ghana Super Cup and the First Lady’s Cup – which has brought fatigue and serious injury situations in camp.[ads3]
He said that, “management have written to the GFA to consider postponing our match, and give us [Hasaacas Ladies] about a week or two break. We have serious injury situations and six of our players are out for national team assignment, there is fatigue in camp, and we hope the GFA will consider and give us a favourable response.”
Meanwhile, out of the six competitions that Hasaacas Ladies participated, the team won five trophies, lost only the CAF Champions League to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa after a 2:0 defeat in the final.[ads4]
Domestically, Hasaacas Ladies won the Ghana Women’s Premier League, FA Cup, Super Cup and the maiden edition of the First Lady’s Cup after beating rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the final.
They also won the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B Cup held in Ivory Coast, beating Nigeria’s Rivers Angels in a cagey final.[ads5]
