Hasaacas Ladies continued their dominance in the Ghana women’s league division as they hammered rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4:0 to win the women’s premier league title.
Hasaacas Ladies topped the southern zone where Ampem Darkoa Ladies also emerged as the leaders from the northern belt – and the two teams had to face off in the final for the championship title.
It was a tantalizing final but the tactical genius of coach Yusif Basigi made the game a mere formality for Hasaacas Ladies at the Madina Astro Turf on Saturday.[ads2]
Ampem Darkoa Ladies were chasing for their third league title and hopes were very high but didn’t end on a good note as they conceded four goals without responding to any of them.
Goals from Faustina Aidoo Nyame, Evelyn Badu and a brace from Doris Boaduwaa ensured that Hasaacas Ladies cliched their fourth league title.
Before today’s meeting, the two sides have had some unforgettable history – their last meeting was in 2019 during the final of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee Special Competition wherew Hasaacas Ladies defeated Ampem Darkoa 3-2 on that occasion to be crowned winners of the competition.[ads3]
That victory was revenge for that painful loss to Ampem Darkoa in 2016 – on that occasion, Ampem Darkoa inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Hasaacas Ladies to win their only major league title.
The two also met in 2015 of which Hasaacas Ladies pipped Ampem Darkoa 1-0 in the 2015 league finals.[ads4]
Today’s victory means Hasaacas Ladies have won the Ghana Women’s Premier league title on a record of four times followed by Ampem Darkoa with two titles.
The two sides will also meet in the Women’s FA Cup final on July 2, 2021..[ads5]
