Government of Ghana has confirmed GH¢1.5m has been pushed through Youth Employment Agency to support elite women footballers.
The Ghana Football Association announced a support package through the Ministry of Youth and Sports teaming up with YEA to come to the aid of female footballers last week.
The Covid-19 relief package from the government of Ghana through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to the Ghana FA is to support elite women footballers who have been greatly affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Five hundred elite women footballers in Ghana are expected to benefit from the package which will be released to the Ghana FA before soon.
Each of the 500 women’s premier league players will receive a stipend GH¢500.00 for the next six months starting from July ending.
“Covid-19 relief package put in place to support 500 elite women’s footballers for the next 6 months with each player receiving stipend of GH¢500.00 a month” – Gov’t statement.

This is to help ease burden from clubs who have to toil heaven and earth to support their players in this Coronavirus period.
Meanwhile, the 2019/20 women’s league in Ghana has been cancelled after the Executive Council of the Ghana FA decided to truncate the 2019/20 league season in the country due to the novel Coronavirus.
