Experienced midfielder Gladson Awako scores the only goal to secure Hearts of Oak their first win of the season against Elmina Sharks on Wednesday.
The Phobians managed to defeat Elmina Sharks 0:1 at the Ndoum Sports Complex in matchday eight of the Ghana Premier League.
Prior to the game, Hearts of Oak had went four matches without a win and were languishing at the bottom of the league table.[ads2]
It was a game Hearts of Oak showed enough determination to at all cost return to Accra with at least a point.
The first half ended in a goalless with both teams creating glaring opportunities but failed to make good use of the chances created.[ads3]
Awako was then introduced in the match to make his first bow for the Phobians in the 64th minute having replaced Enoch Asubonteng.
The former TP Mazembe midfielder netted the only goal with only eight minutes spent on the pitch, giving the Phobians their first three points of the season.[ads4]
Awako announced his presence in the Rainbow colours with a scorching goal that took a slight deflection.
Unfortunately, Hearts of Oak starman Salifu Ibrahim received the second yellow card and was sent off the game, reducing the Phobians to ten men with seven minutes to full-time.
The Phobians have moved out of the bottom place with the important victory with three outstanding matches.[ads5]
