Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Jose Peseiro has played down Ghana’s qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, claiming it was an accident.
Ghana secured a ticket to the mundial on the away goal rule at the expense of Nigeria in the final playoff round in Abuja.
Despite boasting of top football stars, the Super Green Eagles could not stopped the Black Stars of Ghana from booking a place at the World Cup.
Even though Nigeria failed to get to the World Cup, Peseiro who took over the Nigerian team from Augustine Eguaveon after the playoffs believes his side should have qualified for the tournament.
The Portuguese trainer believes Nigeria have a strong squad than Ghana and hence should have been part of the African representatives for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“I have a team with players who play in England, Italy, France, Spain, but unfortunately they didn’t beat Ghana to go to the World Cup”, Jose Peseiro said as quoted by Pulse Nigeria.
I think it was an accident, I think Nigeria is better than Ghana”, he added…
Meanwhile, Ghana has been drawn in group H of the World Cup and will play against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
