Former South Africa international, Junior Khanye has said Ghana will still beat the Bafana Bafana should FIFA orders replay of World Cup qualification match.
Ghana managed to defeat South Africa in last group game of the qualifiers kind courtesy a penalty goal from skipper Andre Ayew which has propelled the Black Stars to reach the playoff round.
It was a South African defender who brought down Ghana’s Daniel Amartey in the penalty-box in the 33rd minute of the cagey encounter with Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette awarding Ghana a penalty.[ads2]
Aftermath of the game comes with the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) filing a complaint to FIFA, stating that they suspect a fixed game. SAFA has also called on FIFA to order replay of the match but the world football governing body is yet to announce its decision.
And Junior Khanye who formerly played for Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United believes Ghana will still beat South Africa with more goals should FIFA orders replay of the game.[ads3]
Writing in his column for the iDiski Times, Khanye said, “If the match was ordered by FIFA to be replayed, I think Ghana would win it again, by more goals this time around.”
“I don’t know if Hugo Broos thinks he is trying to prove a point by omitting players who deserve to play in the national team. You cannot tell me that Andile Jali and Lyle Lakay are not good enough to play for the national team.
“If we have the same approach, I think Ghana will defeat Bafana Bafana again in a replay situation. They had more threatening chances in the game we played.”[ads5]
