Executive member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Tony Aubyn has provided reason why the Black Stars squad to face Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff has delayed.
Ghana is yet to release its squad for the two games with barely eleven days to the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Even though reports say the GFA has received the squad from the technical handlers of the Black Stars led by Otto Addo, the list is yet to be out despite Nigeria announcing theirs on March 4.
As to why the squad has delayed, Dr Tony Aubyn in an interview on Accra-based Starr FM explained that, “The reason why the squad has not been released is a technical decision backed by management.
“We recently formed the technical team and the management team and I’m sure they have a reason why and they have their own timelines. It is for a good reason.
“I can not explain even though I’m in the EXCO. We have given them the responsibility to the technical team. I believe that the squad will be announced soon and I can’t tell how soon because I don’t know the timeline.” he added.
Ghana will welcome long-standing rival Nigeria at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on March 25, 2022 for the first leg of the World Cup playoff before the reverse fixture on March 29 at the Mashood Abiola Sports Stadium in Abuja…
