Germany will host Ghana in an international friendly on Monday, March 30, 2026, as both nations intensify preparations for the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The match, scheduled for an 8:45 pm kick-off in Stuttgart, will provide a key test for the two sides ahead of the global showpiece and carries added significance for Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, who was born in Hamburg and enjoyed a successful playing career in Germany.
Addo, a former Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Bundesliga champion in 2002, will lead Ghana against one of the traditional powerhouses of world football, as the four-time African champions continue their build-up after qualifying convincingly for the 2026 tournament.
Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann welcomed the fixture, describing Ghana as a strong and disciplined side whose style mirrors some of the challenges his team expects at the World Cup.
Ghana secured qualification as group winners and will compete in Group L at the finals alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The friendly in Stuttgart offers Addo’s side an opportunity to measure themselves against elite opposition and fine-tune their tactical approach ahead of the tournament.
Historically, Ghana and Germany have met three times. Their first encounter came in a friendly in Bochum in 1993, which Germany won 6–1. The sides later clashed at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Germany edged a 1–0 group-stage victory, before playing out a memorable 2–2 draw at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The upcoming friendly is expected to attract significant interest, as both teams look to build momentum and sharpen their squads ahead of football’s biggest stage.
