Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan has backed AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan to lead the Black Stars in near future.
According to Asamoah Gyan, the AS Roma teenager posses exceptional qualities and will go a long way to help the Black Stars, but has advised that he shouldn’t be rushed into the team.
“He is a very good player,” Gyan admitted in an interview with Asempa FM.
“I have watched all his games he has played and I think he is the future for the Black Stars but we must admit that he is young and we must not rush him.
“Let us allow him to join the team at the right time. He has been impressive but rushing him into the Black Stars will not be helpful.
“I think he not joining the Black Stars was based on bad intension because I think he wants to develop himself and stay focused as well but I believe he will surely join the team at the right time with proper integration,” he added.
Felix Afena-Gyan dominated the headlines after scoring a brace against Genoa in the Italian Serie A last weekend.
He had to come off the bench in the 75th minute to replace Eldor Shmurodov, to produce a stupendous performance against Genoa, scoring two beautiful goals to aid AS Roma to victory.
It was the third appearance for the former EurAfrica Academy player as substitute and first goals for AS Roma.
He has already turned down an invite to play for Ghana after he was included in the Black Stars squad for 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa..
