AshantiGold Sporting Club have secured a ticket to the Ghana FA Cup finals after defeating ten-man Berekum Chelsea 4:1 on Sunday afternoon.
A pair of goals in the first half of extra-time gave AshantiGold the upper hand after the first half goal was cancelled out by substitute Stephen Sarfo in regulation.
With just three minutes to the end of the game, Asante Kotoko target Seth Osei, from a close range slotted home the final goal to secure a 4:1 victory for AshantiGold.[ads2]
The first half of the titanic encounter was full of action with both sides creating glaring chances.
Goalkeeper Kofi Mensah was the hero for AshantiGold as he beautifully prevented two perfect strike from Kofi Owusu from entering his net.
With few minutes to end the first half, AshantiGold were shot to the lead due to a superhuman free-kick from Eric Esso.
He produced a beautiful curler which flogged over the wall into the roof with goalkeeper Sammy Adjei completely beaten.
Substitute, Stephen Sarfo restored parity for Berekum Chelsea with six minutes into the second half of the game.[ads3]
Sarfo scored by controlling a cross from the right inside the box with his chest before landing the ball into the back of the net.
Kofi Owusu had a glorious opportunity to shoot Berekum Chelsea to the lead but failed to utilize a pass from Stephen Amankona.
Amankona also had a perfect chance to score the second goal for Chelsea in the 77th minutes but his low shot was superbly saved by Kofi Mensah.
In just two minutes into the extra-time, Amos Nkrumah with a powerful strike from a 25 yards struck AshantiGold to the lead.[ads4]
Unfortunately, Berekum Chelsea were reduced to ten men with Benjamin Baidoo being sent off after receiving a second yellow card for pushing Mark Agyekum on the flank.
With just a minute to end the first half of extra-time, Amos Addai -left unmarked-was released on the right side and he went at goal before dribbling past goalkeeper Adjei to fire home the third.
The victory has propelled AshantiGold SC to book a spot at the FA Cup final and will meet the winner of Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.[ads5]
