Young but very enterprising goalkeeper, Richard Baidoo has been included in Hearts of Oak registered squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Reliable source reveal that the 22-year old impressed the technical heads at Hearts of Oak in the just ended season at Karela United hence the decision to include him in the list for the next season’s Africa campaign.[ads2]
Baidoo spent last season at Karela United where he was spectacular, commanding first team slot despite the avalanche of experienced goalkeepers at the Ayinase-based club.
His spectacular form last season, according to the source, has impressed coach Samuel Boadu who is poised to give the young goalkeeper enough playing time next season.[ads3]
But the source indicate that, should Hearts of Oak present three goalkeepers for the Champions league campaign, experienced goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah will not make the squad list following the presence of goalkeepers like Richard Attah, Richmond Ayi and Richard Baidoo.
It is believed that, the reigning Ghana Premier league champions will be submitting their squad list for the champions league before the draw on August 15, 2021 with goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah likely to be excluded from the list.[ads4]
Right back, Larry Sumaila also stand the chance of missing out from the squad list should the Phonians secure the signature of former WAFA defender Suraj Musah before the deadline day.
Hearts of Oak will be the only Ghanaian club to represent the country in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions after Medeama SC was denied the chance of partaking in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Phobians will go into the competition as the champions of the Ghana Premier league, Ghana FS Cup and automatically the winners of the Ghana Super Cup.[ads5]
