Veteran Ghanaian rapper, Reggie Rockstone has call on the government to decriminalize the use of marijuana in the country.
According to the Ghana’s hiplife pioneer, aside its medicinal and other related benefits, the use of marijuana will generate huge revenue to the country which will help the government’s development agenda.
The 58-year old songwriter and performer believes the best way to desist the youth from smoking the cannabis plant is not to criminalize it.
“Decriminalise has always been my stance. I say this because we all know the affluent get away with beers in their country. If you come from a ‘good home’ and you get busted with marijuana, you will not do no time,” the 58-year old said on Asaase Radio.
“But those young boys and girls in the ghettos in the neighbourhoods, they arrest them. And when you do this, you are creating your own monsters, because these kids will come back, and when they meet you it will be on a different note.
“People get arrested for years. It is a waste of life. We can really pull some revenue from marijuana,” he added.
