Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has officially left FC Zurich after the two parties agreed to terminate his contract.
Barnieh, 24, joined the Swiss outfit in January 2023 from Hearts of Oak, penning a three-and-a-half-year deal. During his time at Zurich, he made 50 competitive appearances, contributing two goals and four assists.
Despite his efforts, Barnieh found it challenging to secure a regular place in the starting XI.
“FC Zurich announces that Ghanaian striker Daniel Afriyie is leaving the city-based club,” the club confirmed in an official statement. “His contract has been terminated by mutual consent. FC Zurich thanks Daniel Afriyie for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the future.”
The former Hearts of Oak captain is now a free agent and expected to explore new opportunities in the upcoming transfer window.
