Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed the Black Stars coaching job to Chris Hughton.
The Black Stars coaching has been vacant since Otto Addo resigned from the position after Ghana’s abysmal performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Hughton was serving as the Black Stars technical director during the era of Otto Addo.
Since Otto Addo relinquished his position to concentrate on his scouting job at Borussia Dortmund, the GFA has been searching for a new coach to head the country’s senior male national team.
Henry Asante Twum, spokesperson of the GFA has said that about 1000 coaches have applied for the vacant Black Stars job and the association has commenced process to appoint a new coach.
But Sam George has revealed that Chris Hughton has been given the Black Stars job pending official announcement.
According to the renowned politician, the decision has been made long ago as the GFA intends to appoint someone they can have ‘control’ over.
“That [coaching] job they have given it to Chris Hughton already so why are we wasting our time?” he quizzed on Joy Prime.
“They have given it to him because they want someone they can manipulate, someone they can use to do their business, someone they can tell him to bring his team selection [with changes being made with regards to agency callups] regardless of how long the person has played or not played.
“People are using GFA to make money, they are using it to feed their family.”, he added.
