It was all joy and excitement at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts of Oak defeated CI Kamsar in the CAF Champions League on Sunday afternoon.
The Phobians managed to sail through after succumbing the Guinean side by 2:0 at their favorite Accra Sports Stadium.
The encounter was made a one-off by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to the political impasse in Guinea.[ads2]
Despite CAF canceling the first leg, CI Kamsar had some smiles on their faces as supporters were denied entry by the African football governing body as a way of fighting against the devastating coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the absence of supporters, the game become not too frightening for the Guinean outfit as they played their heart out but were stilled silenced the goals from Kofi Kordzi and Salim Adams.
The first half ended with not sides showcasing their abilities, with determination to out-powered each other but all to no avail as it ended goalless.[ads3]
Hearts of Oak returned from the tunnel with much determination to tame CI Kamsar bit all efforts went fruitless until coach Samuel Boadu decided to show his technical prowess by introducing striker Kofi Kordzi into the game.
Few minutes after being introduced into the game, the former Muathari SC goal poacher broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute from a sumptuous free-kick.
Coach Samuel Boadu decided to push more men into the game with former New Edubiase midfielder Salim Adams replacing Caleb Amankwah whiles William Dakyi came in for Salifu Ibrahim in the 90th minute.[ads4]
As if the game was about to end, Salim Adams made it 2:0 for the Phobians to seal the victory at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This means that Hearts of Oak have qualifed to the final phase of the qualifying round and will face Wydad Athletic before securing ticket to the group stage of the competition…[ads5]
