Former Asante Kotoko management member Edmund Ackah has directed the supporters of the club to blame the team’s Executive Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei for the club’s financial losses.
This comes following an order from FIFA to Kotoko to pay a whopping $240,000 over the transfer of former striker Emmanuel Clottey from Tunisian giant Esperance de Tunis in 2012.

This has caused a tussle between the management of the club and the supporters with most of the supporters blaming the management for not doing due diligence on Clottey’s issue.
Mr. Edmund Ackah has waded into the saga, directing the supporters to channel their angriness to the Executive Chairman since he is the reason why the club is facing all these financial losses.
“If Dr Kwame Kyei had listened to management members on the Emmanuel Clottey issues, Kotoko wouldn’t be paying this huge amount”, he told Oyerepa FM.

“I’m not in management but I trust the rest that they can do the job, they are more than capable but if only he [Dr Kwame Kyei] will listen.
“In August 2019, Esperance wrote to Kotoko giving us their account details to pay them $30,000 because we owe them $180,000 and they also owe us $150,000 but the chairman said he will not pay because he didn’t sign Emmanuel Clottey”, he added.
Edmund Ackah also narrated who Dr. Kwame Kyei lodges former coach Kjetil Zachariassen before handing him later to the management.
He said that, “nobody is causing financial loss to Kotoko or Dr Kwame Kyei but the Executive Chairman himself (Dr.Kwame Kyei).

“He single handedly contacted Zachariassen, lodged him at a hotel at East Legon before handing him over to George Amoako and Nana Kwame Dankwah.
“Even on CK Akonnor’s issue, he insulted us (management) when he sought our opinion, after agreeing with CK to pay him off at GHc 50,000. Dr Kwame Kyei said he will only pay GHc20,000 and now Kotoko have to pay over billion whose fault is it.
“You mention the laws of the game on issues to him, then he start spewing that there’s no need for the laws.
“People accuse me [Edmund Ackah] of brininging in George Abege to Kotoko but have forgotten to also acknowledge me for Justice Blay who is being hailed now.
“The only role I played was to get a contact in Kenya for the team so they contact officials of Kariobangi Sharks.
“Nob should blame anybody for the financial losses, he [Dr. Kwame Kyei] is the problem not anybody” he concluded.
