Ghana midfielder, Benjamin Afutu I close to joining newly promoted Egyptian club Eastern Tobacco FC otherwise known as El Sharkia Lel Dokhan.
The 26-year old is joining the Cairo-based club after impressive form with Ghana Premier league heavyweight Hearts of Oak.[ads2]
Afutu was extraordinary for Hearts of Oak in the just ended league season, helping the team to lift the Ghana Premier league and the FA Cup trophies.
Despite his incredible form last season, the former Karela United talisman failed to sign a new deal for the Phobians after expiration of his contract.[ads3]
He was part of Hearts of Oak squad for the CAF Champions League campaign but negotiations to sign a new contract didn’t materialized.
He was arguably one of the best holding midfielders in the domestic league last season after an explosive showdown.[ads4]
The midfielder scored seven important goals as the Phobians won the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup.
Afutu was nominated for the Ghana Premier League player of the season alongside Gladson Awako and Augustine Boakye but lost the top accolade to teammate Salifu Ibrahim.[ads5]
