In response to an incident between coach Chris Hughton and a supporter following the team’s opening loss against Cape Verde at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stepped up security for the Black Stars. One member of the Ghanaian supporters group in Abidjan attacked Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel after Ghana’s 2- loss to Cape Verde. The coach was reportedly attacked, but fortunately, a few Ghanaian diplomats there intervened. The unidentified suspect was turned over to the Cote d’Ivoire police while Chris Hughton was being moved to safety. The cops are in charge of him and will determine the best course of action.
