The Operation Vanguard team have arrested two Chinese nationals suspected to be illegal miners in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region. The arrest follows operations carried out by the Western Forward Operation Base of the Vanguard team at Samreboi and Aborikrom, both in the Amenfi West District. The GH¢5.1 million World Bank sponsored project for the construction of the Takoradi Library Complex would soon be handed over to the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly. The project which begun in October 2015 was scheduled for completion in June 2017, and is being constructed by AlfChils Company Limited. A Skyy News can report that the project is almost completed. MTN is to list proceeds from its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Ghana Stock Exchange later today [September 5, 2018]. The company, in July, concluded its IPO which is to allow it cede thirty-five percent of its operations to the public. The IPO targeted 3.5 billion cedis, but it was able to raise 1.146 billion cedis. This means that it was about 2.3 billion cedis shy of the targeted amount. The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has clarified that it will soon meet with the business associations to have further consultation and sensitize them on the implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) system. According to the Customs division of the GRA, the engagement is necessary to clear all doubts harboured by the business associations over the CTN policy. Following the agitations from the businesses, the GRA released a statement rescheduling the date for the CTN implementation to October 15. District Chief Executive for Wassa East, Wilson Arthur has reiterated his commitment to help eradicate the galamsey menace in the area.
