Ghana managed to dispatch Sao Tome and Princepe in the game of the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Accra on Sunday.
The Black Stars smacked Sao Tome 3:1 with the likes of Abdul Baba Rahman and Nicholas Opoku scoring their debut goals for Ghana.
Ghana dominated the game throughout the entire ninety minutes though Sao Tome had some chances that they could have capitalized to slash down the scores.[ads2]
Ghana begun the game on a good note which led to Nicholas Opoku’s opener for the West African country. The Amiens FC defender headed home the opener from a corner kick.
Despite scoring the first goal, Ghana continued paring pressure on the Sao Tome defence.
Baba Rahman came close to the second goal in the nineteenth minute but his strike in the eighteen yard box went side net.
Arsenal FC talisman Thomas Partey also came close to getting second goal in the 24th minute but his thunderbolt strike was blocked by the opponent defenders.
Ghana comtinued pressing and pressing the Sao Tome defence until Jordan Ayew was brought down by the opponent defenders, which saw the center referee rewarding the home side a penalty in the 29th minute of the game.[ads3]
Jordan Ayew beautifully converted the ball to give Ghana a 2-0 lead ahead of Sao Tome and Princepe who were the whipping boys in the group.
Ajax Amsterdam forward Kudus Mohammed had a percent chance to score his third goal for Ghana in a one-on-one situation but his effort was saved by the Sao Tome goalkeeper to end the first half.
Ghana returned from the break to continue their dominance with coach CK Akonnor introducing Great Olympics skipper Gladson Awako into the game.
Chelsea FC defender Abdul Baba Rahman made the scores 3:0 for Ghana in the 60th minute with Kudus Mohammed doing all the works.[ads4]
The likes of Justice Blay, Kwesi Okyere, Imoro Ibrahim were introduced into the game for Mubarak Wakaso, Jordan Ayew and Abdul Baba Rahman.
As if Ghana is about to finish the game with a clean sheet, goalkeeper Razak Abalora mistakenly dashed Sao Tome striker a pass in the eighteen yard box which he converted to snatch the consolation for his side.
Ghana has qualified from the group alongside Sudan who defeated South Africa 2:0 in the last game today which means South Africa and Sao Tome will not be seen at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon….[ads5]
