Ghana’s biggest football rivalry will take centre stage on Republic Day as Asante Kotoko SC face off against Accra Hearts of Oak SC in the 2025 edition of the President’s Cup.
The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), confirmed the much-anticipated encounter, set for Tuesday, 1st July 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The match, which coincides with Ghana’s Republic Day celebrations, is expected to unite the nation in a spectacle of sport and patriotism.
Following extensive consultations, organisers agreed that a clash between the country’s two most successful and storied football clubs was the perfect fixture to mark the national holiday. The President’s Cup, held annually in honour of the sitting President, celebrates unity, leadership, and the spirit of Ghanaian football.
This year’s showdown promises more than just a contest for supremacy. With decades of rivalry and millions of passionate supporters behind them, Kotoko and Hearts are set to deliver a pulsating display of football brilliance. Organisers say the game will not only determine the better side on the day but also serve as a tribute to Ghana’s rich sporting heritage.
Details on ticket sales, kickoff time, and a host of exciting side attractions will be announced by GHALCA in the coming days.
