Former Ghana international, Charles Taylor has called for a long-term contract for Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.
According to the former Hearts of Oak attacker, with the knowledge that Chris Hughton posses as football manager, a long-term contract will enable him to build a formidable Black Stars capable of winning trophies.
“Chris Hughton must be given a long-term project because he is very knowledgeable. When you have good coaches like Chris, it motivates the players. When the players see him in the stands, they get motivated because they know it’s a chance for them to stake a claim for roles in the Black Stars. It will help our various national teams and the local league improve,” Taylor said on Angel TV.
“What I like most is that he is not restricting his visits to only Accra and Kumasi. We should give him the team and allow him to make all the decisions. He is doing the job and must be commended for the good work,” he added.
Taylor’s comment comes after Chris Hughton led the Black Stars to defeat Angola 1:0 in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi followed by a 1:1 stalemate in Luanda.
The former Newcastle United manager has been praised by many after the Black Stars wonderful performance against Angola in the two games.
Meanwhile, Chris Hughton who was appointed the Black Stars head coach last month, will have his contract expired on December 31, 2024.
