Residents of Takoradi had their new year celebration smeared with a very heartbroken incident as four souls were perished in a gory accident.[ads2]
The pessimistic incident which occurred at Kojokrom, suburb in Takoradi in the early hours of Sunday, January 1, 2023 involved two buses.
A Republic of Liberia registered sprinter bus with registration number, LB-B11992 and an Assemblies Of God bus with registration number GT 4481-22.[ads3]
According to an eyewitness, the Assemblies of God bus had some church members onboard, from Accra heading towards Asankragwa whilst the sprinter was moving in the opposite direction.
It is said that the sprinter had overtaken many vehicles on top speed and whilst negotiating a curve at New Apostolic Junction in Kojokrom, it collided with the bus.
Two of the decesed have been identified as indigenes of Komenda in the Central Region ( driver and the mate of the sprinster bus).They work as commercial drivers in Liberia and were returning home for the new year.[ads4]
It has been reported that the driver mad his mate picked five other passengers on their way from Elubo (making number of persons in the Liberian sprinter seven).
As at the time of filing this report, the two other deceased passengers were yet to be identified.
The three other passengers who survived in the sprinter bus are currently in critical condition at the Effiankwanta Regional hospital.
Nine passengers who were part of those in the Assemblies of God bus are still on admission for further checks whilst the rest have been discharged.
