Burkinabe outfit RC Kadiogo have reportedly requested to use the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as home venue for the ongoing CAF Champions League campaign.[ads2]
The Burkinabe top-flight side have reportedly written to the continent football governing body, CAF to grant them the permission to use the Kumasi-based stadium as home venue for the Champions League.
RC Kadiogo had their Champions League fixture against Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko moved to Benin due to the fact that their venue was rejected by CAF during a mandatory inspection exercise.[ads3]
Playing home away from home didn’t prevent RC Kadiogo to eliminate Asante Kotoko in the first round of the Champions League preliminary stage after the two legged ties.
The first leg ended 1:0 for Asante Kotoko in Benin with Isaac Oppong scoring the only goal for the Ghanaian powerhouse in the dying embers of the game.
The defeat in Benin didn’t deter RC Kadiogo as they managed to defeat Asante Kotoko 1:0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi that was filled with supporters of the home team. Eventually, RC Kadiogo won the penalty shootouts by 1:3 to qualify to the next stage of the competition.[ads4]
