President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick is optimistic that his country will qualify to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the expense of Ghana.
The Super Green Eagles managed to hold Ghana to a goalless stalemate in the first leg of the World Cup playoff at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last night.
The Black Stars dominated possession and created most chances in the game but the Nigerian defenders led by Troost Ekong were resolute at the back till the blast of the final whistle.
And despite Ghana’s amazing performance last night, Amaju Pinnick believes his outfit have a better team that will annihilate the Black Stars in the second leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
“I know we should and will win convincingly at home. Our team is the better but we were unfortunate today”, Mr. Pinnick said after the game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi Friday night.
On the performance of the referee and the decision to rescind a penalty decision after Ghana midfielder Baba Iddrisu touched the ball with his hand inside Ghana’s eighteen yard box, Amaju Pinnick said, “I think the referee was correct. The Nigerian player [Kelechi Iheanacho] pushed Baba Iddrisu and that made him touched the ball .We have no problem with officiating.”
