Great Olympics striker Maxwell Abbey Quaye has been handed a maiden call-up to the Black Stars for the AFCON 2021.
The in-form goal poacher has been included in Ghana’s 30-man provisional squad for the prestigious tournament in Cameroon next year announced by coach Milovan Rajevac on Tuesday.[ads2]
Abbey Quaye has received a call-up to the Black Stars following his spectacular form for Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.
He is currently leading the Ghana Premier League topscorers chart with seven goals after nine matches this season.
The Black Stars will travel to Qatar for camping before flying to Cameroon for the tournament.[ads3]
Meanwhile, four other locally-based player namely; Richard Attah (Hearts of Oak), Philemon Baffour (Dreams FC), David Abagna (RTU) and Fatawu Issahaku (Dreams FC) have been included in the squad.
Ghana will open camp in Doha, Qatar on December 23. While in the Asian country, they will play three preparatory games.[ads4]
Ghana has been pitched in a group with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
Ghana will open the AFCON 2021 campaign against Morocco before facing Gabon on January 14 an wrap it up against debutants Comoros.
