Veteran Ghanaian musician, Reggie Rockstone has expressed his displeasure over the court sentencing Akuapem Poloo to a three months imprisonment.
The actress and social media personality has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for posing a nude picture with her son.[ads2]
Known in real life as Rosemond Brown, Akuapem Poloo was on Wednesday convicted on her own plea by the Circuit Court in Accra after pleading guilty to three charges.
She was charged with the publication of nude pictures with her seven-year-old son. She changed her not guilty plea to guilty before being convicted.
The court presided over by Her Honour Christina court deferred her sentencing to today, April 16 2021, for her to undergo a pregnancy test to ensure she was not pregnant before her sentencing is passed.[ads3]
Before her sentencing, the presiding judge confirmed that the actress was not pregnant after her test came out negative.
The pregnancy test ordered by the court is a requirement by law to ensure that, before a woman who pleaded guilty in court is sentenced, the court should know her status.
She was therefore remanded into custody for the prosecution to take her to any Government hospital to conduct the pregnancy test and produce the results today.[ads4]
Poloo is facing three charges of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.
Whiles many are calling for her release from prison, others believe she should remain behind bars to serve as a deterrent to others.
But according to Reggie Rockstone, “most of the stuff that you see on social media that she does, is just to feed her child.
“I’m not saying that the law is wrong, I’m not here to argue with the law. All I’m saying is, I’m a human being, and it cut me. But if you feel like it okay that that girl is locked up and taken away from her son, that’s entirely up to you. For me It does not sit well with my spirit,” he said these on JoyNews’ Ghana Concert programme.[ads5]
