Asante Kotoko pipped Dreams 0:1 at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Kotoko lost their last game to Great Olympics and were determined to wallop Dreams FC to boost confidence for the CAF Champions League clash with Al Hilal.
Defender, Imoro Ibrahim was the hero for Asante Kotoko as his only goal snatched the three maximum points for the Porcupine Warriors.[ads2]
This becomes the fist victory for coach Johnson Smith since taking over the Asante Kotoko job three days ago after the sacking of coach Maxwell Konadu.
Asante Kotoko went into the game with both goalkeepers Kwame Baah and Felix Annan benched with Razak Abalora in posts.
The Ghana Premier League record holders started the game on a high note with much eagerness to return to Kumasi with a positive result.[ads3]
Few minutes later, Dreams FC started bossing the game but did last long as Asante Kotoko gathered themselves together to snatch the possession.
This led to the opener from Imoro Ibrahim in the 21st minute to push Asante Kotoko to the lead.
Patrick Asmah strike in a perfect shot but it was blocked by the defenders of Dreams FC. The ball then fell on Kwame Opoku but his volley went straight to Imoro Ibrahim at the edge of the penalty box who strike perfectly to give Asante Kotoko the lead to end the first half.[ads4]
In the second half, Dreams FC came in strong to get the equalizer and probably the winner but all to no avail as the game ended 0:1 in favor of the visitors.
The victory gives Asante Kotoko enough confidence as they prepare to face Sudanese giant Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.[ads5]
