W/R: GNPC Foundation support 400 artisans to acquire NVTI certificate

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation, in collaboration with Aseda Foundation have supported 400 artisans to graduate with NVTI certificate in Takoradi.

The 400 graduated artisans excelled in the various fields in plumbing, fashion, catering, welding, tiling, carpentry, auto-mechanics, general electricals, aluminum fabrication among others.

The exercise forms part of GNPC effort to enhance livelihood under the 2019 GNPC – Aseda Foundation Artisans Project.

In a short graduation and NVTI certification ceremony at the Jubilee Park in Takoradi today, the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah expressed his excitement in equipping the artisans with tools and equipment in their relevant fields and new occupation to start up their businesses.

He indicated that, the Foundation, over the years has been supporting the formal sectors with scholarships but after a careful deliberations, the leadership of the Foundation decided to channel their attention to the informal sector by supporting the artisans.

Ending his speech, Dr. Eduah noted that, the GNPC Foundation have stipulated to support 4000 artisans across the country and not only the Western Region.

The chairman of the occasion, Hon. Wilson Arthur in his acceptance speech thanked GNPC for their immense impact on enhancing livelihoods across the country.

The 400 graduated artisans were given a set of tools relevant to their skill and new occupation.

Present at the ceremony was Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II who is the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and Chairman of Board of Trustees of GNPC Foundation with MCE of STMA, Hon. Anthony KK Sam and Hon. Catherine Afeku who is a minister of State at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Evalue- Gwira.
