The inaugural edition of the Takoradi Technical University Awards was held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the d School Auditorium in Takoradi, under the theme “Rewarding Excellence through Sports.” The event, organized under the auspices of the distinguished Vice Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University, Rev Prof. John Frank Eshun, sought to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements and valuable contributions of individual sportsmen and women, teams, and coaches from the University community, who have displayed exceptional prowess in the domain of sports.
Integral to the Awards Night was the acknowledgment and reverence extended to the meritorious achievements of sports teams and icons, not only from the Western Region but also transcending regional boundaries. The event garnered attendance from esteemed guests, including the MP for Effia, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, the Pro Vice Chancellor, School Authorities, athletes, sports enthusiasts, members of the media, and more.
The highlight of the night was the crowning of athlete Raymond French, who secured the prestigious “Sports Personality of the Year” award alongside several other accolades. His outstanding achievements were rewarded with a generous cash prize of Gh2000, presented by the MP for Effia, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe.
Noteworthy winners from other categories were also celebrated, including “Coach of the Year,” “Male Footballer of the Year,” “Volleyball Team of the Year,” “Female Footballer of the Year,” “Badminton Player of the Year” for both Men and Women, “Basketball Player of the Year” for both Men and Women, and numerous others.
The event also took a moment to recognize the unwavering support and exceptional service provided by Mr. Stephen Kwame Yeboah, the CEO of Ghana’s rapidly burgeoning online portal, kyfilla.com, in the realm of sports reportage. His continued dedication to supporting University Sporting activities over the past years garnered well-deserved admiration and honor.
