Kwaw Kese demands $1million from Ghana Police as compensation for his arrest in 2015 over weed smoking

I need $1million from Ghana Police as compensation for arresting me in 2015 for smoking wee - Kwaw Kese

Famous Ghanaian musician Kwaw Kese, Emmanuel Kofi Botchwey, became entangled in the legal system in 2015 after being detained by the Ghana Police on suspicion of possessing cannabis.

After being found guilty of drug charges in 2015, Kwaw Kese was given a day’s jail sentence and a GH˖1,200 fine.

For what he believes to have been an unfair arrest, the crooner is currently thinking about asking for a sizable $1 million payment. He continued by saying that, following his incarceration and conviction for marijuana use, he is considering suing the Ghana Police for $1 million in damages.
The hitmaker of “Awoyo Sofo” stated in an open interview with Hitz FM that he thought his arrest for public marijuana use was unjust because many foreigners had broken the same law without facing any consequences.
He added that to pursue the proper legal course of action, he would consult with his attorneys.

“Even with mine, they don’t have any proof that I was doing that. They could not possibly demonstrate that to claim, “We saw Kwaw Kese doing this. I was imprisoned because of rumors. There is no photo to support their claims.

“The police who arrested me are still here, armed, and keeping an outsider from smoking in public in this same Ghana.” It is all live on camera, too, and that person walks away with nothing,” he said.

Kwaw went on to say that the arrest damaged his reputation and career. He argues that the incident tarnished his public image and hindered his ability to work freely in the music industry.

“I have got proof, evidence that other foreign nationals have come to do the same thing for which I was imprisoned.”

If this is the case, I must receive payment for the disgrace and damage they inflicted upon my reputation and me,” he underlined.
