WAFA SC managed to pick a point at the Lenclay Sports Stadium against Asante Kotoko in week 26 of the Ghana Premier League on a scorching Saturday afternoon.
The Porcupines went into the game with the hope of taming WAFA to return to the top of the league table after bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak had taken the lead.
Despite going into the game as favorite, Kotoko couldn’t walk past WAFA as the game ended 1:1 at the Lenclay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.
Defender Abdul Ganiyu broke the virginity of the crucial encounter for Kotoko from the spot in the 2nd minute after WAFA goalkeeper Osei Bonsu brought down Francis Andy Kumi in the penalty box.
That didn’t deter the Academy Boys from pushing for the equalizer after conceding the early minute goal.
Former Sekondi Hasaacas FC player Justus Torsutsey with a solid effort snatched the parity for WAFA SC to secure them a point at Obuasi.
Asante Kotoko will now have same points as Hearts of Oak (46 points) who are on top of the Ghana Premier League table..[ads5]
