Kobbie Mainoo named in Gareth Southgate's provisional squad for Euro 2024

Coach Gareth Southgate has named Kobby Mainoo in the Three Lions’ provisional squad for Euro 2024 in Germany.

Mainoo’s first senior team call-up came for England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium in March 2024. On March 23, 2024, he made his Wembley Stadium debut at the age of eighteen, coming on as a 75th-minute substitute for Conor Gallagher during a 1-0 loss to Brazil.

Three days later, though, he made his first-ever England start at Wembley against Belgium again. He replaced James Maddison after 75 minutes, and on his debut, he was named man of the match.

Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford were excluded.

Provisional England squad for Euro 2024:

Goalkeepers: James Trafford, Dean Henderson, Aaron Ramsdale, and Jordan Pickford

Defenders: Jarrad Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah, Luke Shaw, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez, Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, John Stones, and Kieran Trippier

Midfielders: Adam Wharton, Kobbie Mainoo, Curtis Jones, Conor Gallagher, Declan Rice, and Trent Alexander-Arnold

Forwards: Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, James Maddison, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze and Jack Grealish

The 19-year-old midfielder, whose parents are from Manchester, is also qualified to represent Ghana on the field.

Before the European Championship begins in Germany, England will play friendlies against Iceland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
