I failed this season – Samuel Boadu admits despite winning FA Cup

Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu has described the season as a failure on his part despite winning the FA Cup.

The Phobians couldn’t defend the league title after winning it last season. The team finished sixth on the premier league log after the season.

Despite a shambolic league campaign, Hearts of Oak managed to win the FA Cup after beating Bechem United in the final at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Speaking after the game, Samuel Boadu believed despite winning the FA Cup, he has still failed as a coach for not finishing in the top four of the Ghana Premier League.

“Hearts of Oak is a big club and we can’t end the season without a trophy, but as a coach not being in the top four I feel I have failed. People should know this as well, with Coach Boadu there’s always a trophy to win,” Coach Samuel Boadu said.

The victory against Bechem United means Hearts of Oak have won the FA Cup for the 12th time with bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko chasing them with nine.

Hearts of Oak have qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup next season after the victory yesterday.
